So long, farewell, vi ses igjen

We bid farewell to our remaining three Norwegian visitors – Injgerd, Bodil and Anne-Sophie – after an enjoyable six weeks of their company at the bridge table.  We will miss them, but they have promised to come back next year.

They have managed some impressive results during their stay in Madeira, and have been a mainstay of our fledgling session at Moynihan’s Irish Bar.  Ingjerd was delighted with the newly-local partner we found for her once her regular partner, Lise, had gone home.  She is planning to arrange some games with him next January.

We are making an effort to attract regular visitors and tourists to ABM events and Simultaneous session.  It helps to sustain the organisation – the more tables, the more income – but it is also good for local players to  experience different systems and methods.  And, of course, it’s interesting in itself to meet new players and expand the social side of bridge in Madeira.
